A world-wise writerKate Stanley is a journalist and essayist who writes about law, medicine, social policy and global affairs. An editorial writer for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis for nearly three decades, she is recognized as one of the most versatile and imaginative commentators in U.S. opinion journalism. Her work for the newspaper has been honored by many top national writing awards.
Committed to cultivating an ethic of global citizenship among Americans, Kate has reported from four continents about global poverty, human rights, health and ethno-political conflict. As chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Conference of Editorial Writers, she won support from the MacArthur, Gates and U.N. Kate left the Star Tribune in 2007 to pursue independent writing ventures. She's now working on a book and serving as a writing, editing and marketing consultant. She loves to garden, practice hot yoga, travel to strange places and spend time with her two twenty-something daughters.
